During the week of 15 to 20 May 2022, the Government of South Africa will host the 5th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour in Durban. It comes at a critical time. Despite progress in many regions, 160 million children are still in child labour. Numbers are rising, and the COVID-19 pandemic threatens to reverse years of progress.
Representatives from governments, trade unions, the private sector, civil society, regional and international organizations, think tanks, academia, and youth and children from all over the world will be hosting plenaries, presentations, and side events. There will be unprecedented opportunities to listen, share, and push for accelerated action.
The programme will include forums, panel discussions, and brainstorming sessions around accelerating action. Prominent speakers, representatives, and participants will discuss critical issues and share solutions that work. More than 4,000 representatives from around the world will unite and strengthen their plans to end child labour.
The 5th Global Conference for the Elimination of Child Labour is a hybrid event.
That means you can follow along either online or in person. However, only invited Delegates will be invited to Durban. Consult the Administrative Circular for more information.
