Children’s and young people’s rights in development cooperation

One aim of implementing the rights of children and young people within German DC is to boost the sustainability and effectiveness of projects, including broadening their reach to achieve greater impact. Many countries have a substantial need for practically applicable knowledge on the rights of children and young people and how to achieve these rights. This methodological guide to organising training events has been developed from this perspective. The starting point is the international human rights protection framework and the linked United Nations Instruments, particularly the work of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

The methodology also draws on the experiences gained from a pilot conducted in 2013/14 in Kyrgyzstan, Guatemala and Burkina Faso.
